Engine choices for the stylish Kodiaq include two diesel units and three petrol choices.

There are also all-wheel drive and automatic transmission choices, and Skoda says that the new engines are more fuel-efficient than the ones they replace.

The highlight of the range is a new 2.0-litre TSI unit producing 245 PS – this is reserved for the vRS model.

The engines are also lighter with the entry level model featuring a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol unit producing 148 bhp.

Skoda Kodiaq scores highly for equipment

As usual, the Skoda Kodiaq scores highly for the amount of equipment and this is also a safe car.

Improved systems include the adaptive cruise control and there’s an emergency braking function that is able to detect cyclists and pedestrians and act accordingly.

There are also radar sensors at the rear of the SUV to help detect the potential of a collision and prepare the vehicle and the occupants for any potential impact.

The level of standard equipment includes front and rear LED lights, a multifunction trip computer and a space-saving temporary spare wheel.

Trims offer more equipment

Other trims offer more equipment with the SE L having 19-inch alloy wheels, LED matrix lights, chrome roof rails and dynamic indicators.

The SportLine offers a rear view parking camera, and an all-weather lighting system.

There’s an L&K trim which adds a virtual cockpit, cornering headlights and ventilated leather front seats.

Pricing for the new Skoda Kodiaq vRS is still to be announced but the car features a virtual cockpit and 20-inch alloy wheels, plus it will have all-wheel drive as standard.
