‘Crowd-sourced’ Citroen C1 unveiled

Oh dear! It could have been so much worse – Citroen’s new special edition C1 was designed after Facebook fans had an input.

The result is this C1 Connexion which costs £9,495 after Facebook users were asked to post their ideas of what the city car should look like and more than 24,000 designs were submitted.

Designers were invited to visit a virtual ‘factory floor’ to choose what the model should look like and what features it should have.  The name badge that features on the car was also designed by a Citroën Facebook fan.

The final car is based on the most popular design and has 14-inch alloy wheels, rear privacy glass and Caldera Black metallic paint with contrasting Scarlet red detail on the door handles, mirrors and rear number plate.

Citroen are using a 1litre petrol engine with a five speed manual gearbox which returns 65.7mpg. Equipment includes LED daytime running lights, air con, ABS and four airbags.

This is the first production car on UK roads resulting from an app created in collaboration with Facebook – and I’m guessing that it’s not going to be the last.

There’s a 5 door version of the Connexion available for £9,845.
