Spec revealed for the new Peugeot 208

The specifications and prices for the new Peugeot 208 and the e-208 have been revealed.

It’s up against some very stiff competition, but there’s a lot to like about the all-new Peugeot 208 and also the fully electric e-208.

Available to order now, deliveries will begin early next year with a choice of petrol, diesel or the all-electric powertrain.

There are three trim levels, including the GT trim for the zero emissions e-208.

The new model features the carmaker’s philosophy of offering lots of choice to potential customers.

Engines for the all-new Peugeot 208

Engines for the all-new Peugeot 208 include a 1.2 litre PureTech offering producing between 75 HP or 100 HP. The petrol engine is mated to either a five- or six-speed manual gearbox and there is the option of an eight-speed automatic transmission for the more powerful models.

Peugeot is also offering its excellent 1.5 litre BlueHDi unit producing 100 PS and this is coupled to a six-speed manual box.

For those interested in the all-electric e-208, there’s a 50 kW battery producing 136 HP with its electric motor.

The electric model offers three driving modes, eco, normal and sport and will support rapid charging with an 80% charge taking 30 minutes. The new generation of e-208 will deliver a 211 mile range in real-world conditions.

As usual, the Peugeot 208 offers lots of equipment as standard, including the firm’s i-Cockpit which sees everything being designed for ease-of-use for the driver.

There’s also a configurable head-up display, a multifunction steering wheel and depending on the model, one of two HD colour touchscreens.

The interior also features eight ambient lighting choices and there’s also cruise control, ‘Connect SOS and Assistance’ as well as lane keeping assist.

With so much class-leading technology on board, there is an instinctive driving experience and the engines will meet most driver’s needs.

Even the entry-level model, the Active, features alloy wheels, electric door mirrors and active safety brake with pedestrian detection.

There’s also automatic air conditioning and the preheating functionality for the e-208 in the Active trim.

The Peugeot 208 GT Line features rear and front parking sensors with a 180° reversing camera, active safety brake that features night function, smart beam assist and twin chrome exhaust pipes.

The GT models of the e-208 offer fully automated parking assistance, blind spot monitoring, a lane positioning system and adaptive cruise control.
