The new Volkswagen Touareg offers improved performance and the top model is VW’s most powerful vehicle.

The engine is an excellent performer, whether at low speeds or driving fast and it’s also useful for going off-road to help deliver the impressive drive characteristics.

The figures for the new engine highlight that it will sprint from 0 to 62 mph in less than five seconds.

The interior for the Volkswagen Touareg has a modern and fresh feel and is dominated with cool colour tones and metal; it’s a warm interior with good use of wood.

There’s the ‘innovision cockpit’, essentially a digitised display for the car’s controls, glass covered surfaces and chrome and aluminium details.

Other standard kit includes air suspension and an electric boot lid, anti-theft alarm system, comfort seats and stainless steel pedals.

There’s also a ‘light and sight’ package fitted which features automatic headlights and automatically dimming exterior door mirrors.

Also, the new model has 19-inch alloy wheels fitted in place of the previous model’s 18-inch wheels.

Other features include ‘night vision’ which will detect animals and people in the dark by using utilising a thermal imaging camera and a lane and traffic jam assist and front cross traffic assistant.

It helps too that there’s an active all-wheel steering system so, despite the large dimensions, the Touareg handles like a compact car.

For those who fancy taking the new model off-road, there’s a roll stabilisation system with controlled anti-roll bars to deliver the comfort and handling owners will expect.

The new Volkswagen Touareg is an excellent addition to a competitive segment with prices and a full spec list being revealed nearer to its launch.
