The Jeep Cherokee has undergone an impressive revamp with lots of new features.

It’s one of the most iconic motoring brands in the world and the new Jeep Cherokee delivers a premium design with lots of technological features.

The interior has been updated with new materials and more storage points and the rear cargo volume has been increased.

There’s also a choice of three all-wheel drive versions and rear axle disconnect technology.

There are two trims available – the Limited and Overland – when the car goes on sale.

Engines for the new Jeep Cherokee

The engines for the new Jeep Cherokee feature a 2.2 litre Multijet II diesel unit which has two power outputs of 150 HP or 195 HP to choose from.

The engines are mated to a nine speed automatic gearbox with plenty of torque for when drivers put the Jeep through its off-roading paces.

And, for the first time, the Cherokee is available in a 4×2 configuration as well as 4×4 – which should help running costs and the fact most drivers will not be travelling across harsh landscapes and won’t be needing 4×4 performance.

Technology in the Jeep Cherokee

Technology in the Jeep Cherokee includes the firm’s latest Uconnect system which uses an 8.4 inch high definition touchscreen so drivers can use Android Auto and Apple CarPlay technology.

As should be expected, the Cherokee is designed for robust use and comes with a wide range of security and safety systems.

These include adaptive cruise control, active forward collision warning with pedestrian emergency braking, lane sense departure warning, a rear reversing camera and an active speed limiter.

Jeep is also offering a 90-strong accessories list to help boost the level of personalisation the driver can enjoy.

The new Cherokee has been designed to deliver comfort and performance around towns and also deal with any adventures when taken off the beaten track.

This plays into the brand’s DNA and with the levels of safety and connectivity as well as protection and convenience, the Cherokee will find willing buyers.

It helps that there’s an impressive ‘terrain traction control system’ that utilises four modes of automatic, sport, snow as well as sand/mud.

While most drivers won’t be putting most of those modes to the test, the new Jeep Cherokee is an impressive offering for the SUV market.
