Safety is the keyword for the all-new Ford Focus as it delivers a lot of advanced driver assistance features than any previous Blue Oval vehicle.

These features include three radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and two cameras.

These help the adaptive cruise control be boosted with speed sign recognition and lane centring to help the Focus in stop-start traffic as well as an intelligent speed limiter.

There’s also adaptive front lighting with predictive curve lights that will adjust to boost safety by monitoring bends and road signs in the road ahead.

New Ford Focus is on sale now

The all-new Ford Focus is on sale now with the firm saying that the estate and five door body styles will be available for buyers later this year.

There’s a lot to like about this new offering and among the safety features there’s a new post-collision braking technology fitted to help prevent the impact from a secondary collision.

But most drivers will like the first head-up display offered by Ford, so they can focus on the road and there is also a rear wide view camera to boost visibility when the driver is reversing.

An increasingly popular feature is blind spot information with cross traffic alert so the Focus driver can reverse from a parking space and the car will monitor for pedestrians or vehicles crossing behind and apply the brakes if necessary.

However, one of the best reasons for taking a closer look at the new Focus is that it’s cheaper than the outgoing model; the new range starts at £17,930, which is £2,000 less than the model it replaces.

There are seven variants available including the Zetec, ST-Line and the upmarket Vignale.

Along with driver and safety assistance technology, the Focus is packed with comfort and great ideas to deliver a technically advanced and accomplished car.

Standard features include air conditioning, Bluetooth and emergency assist, tyre pressure monitoring and 16-inch alloy wheels.

The new Ford Focus has a big act to follow and it’s been a popular choice for many years in the UK with a new model likely to be a popular option again – and for good reason.
