This is the all-new Kia Ceed that is heading to the UK and is packed with technology to boost safety and comfort levels.

However, the biggest change is likely to be the dropping of the unusual cee’d name which just caused confusion and it’s now known as the Ceed.

It’s also the first Kia model that will offer ‘level II autonomous driving’, which essentially is a lane following assistance technology.

The Ceed also has a new design which also incorporates the Sportswagon models.

Range of engines in the Kia Ceed

There are a range of engines in the Kia Ceed to choose from, including a 1.4 litre TGDi petrol unit that produces 140 PS and a new efficient 1.6 litre diesel unit. This engine replaces the previous 1.6 litre GDI engine.

Other petrol choices include a revamped 1.0 litre turbocharged engine producing 120 PS. All of the petrol units have a petrol particulate filter to help bring down tailpipe emissions so that the car goes beyond the Euro 6d Temp standards.

The new diesel engine also has improved emissions with less carbon dioxide and particulate matter.

Most of the engines are mated to a six speed manual transmission, while some models have the option of a seven speed dual clutch transmission.

New third-generation Kia Ceed

As should be expected, the new third-generation Kia Ceed is packed with technology and equipment.

It’s proved to be a popular car with UK buyers and this European designed and built vehicle will continue to be a popular choice.

The model it replaces accounted for 16% of Kia’s European sales last year and, along with the excellent Kai Sportage, it’s helped Kia to sales success.

The new car is also being developed for European roads so the handling and ride characteristics of the new Ceed have been tuned to impress.

Kia says the new Ceed will be one of the most high-tech vehicles in its segment with a raft of technologies including a 7-inch touchscreen audio system or the option of an 8-inch sat nav system.

A driving mode selection system will enable drivers to tailor their experience with sport and normal modes, which will change the character of the engine and handling.

Driver assistance systems include lane following assist which will track the vehicle in front and detect the road markings to ensure the Ceed remains within its lane.

There’s also smart cruise control, blind spot collision warning, smart parking assist and rear cross traffic alert collision warning.

The new Kia Ceed will go on sale from 1 August and prices start at £18,295 and the vehicle comes with an unbeatable 100,000 miles or seven years warranty to bring peace of mind motoring.
