There is a lot to enjoy from the all-new Renault Megane RS which has gone on sale with deliveries from July.

Priced from £27,495 OTR this is a hot hatch that offers lots of customisation and innovative Renault Sport technologies.

Among the new features is the firm’s 4Control system which is four wheel steering to boost handling. The firm says this is a first in the world for the sports car segment and will, at speeds of more than 37 mph or 62 mph in race mode, turn the rear and front wheels in the same direction for improved stability.

The Renault Megane RS features a brand-new 1.8 litre petrol engine which develops 280 HP which currently makes it the most powerful 1.8 litre unit available.

Engineers have given the engine a new cylinder head, more efficient cooling and a reinforced structure. The firm has also developed the twin-scroll turbocharger so there’s more torque at lower revs.

Other features from motor racing and supercars include Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coating for the engine’s valve lifters.

The Renault Megane RS has impressive performance with the engine reaching from 0 to 62 mph in just 5.8 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph.

Depending on the model, emissions are 155g/km with fuel economy of 41 mpg.

There’s plenty of equipment on board the new Megane RS and it’s not all aimed at boosting high performance levels but also improving passenger comfort.

Along with chrome plated RS door sills, there’s also custom roof lining and sports seats and a leather steering wheel.

The new model is wider with a more muscular appearance with custom parts including the front grille and front bumper.

Technology fitted as standard includes a 7-inch touchscreen with satnav, multi-sense driving modes, rear parking sensors, cruise control as well as ABS and ESC.

Other features include a sunroof, an 8.7 inch portrait touchscreen, a top end sound system, rear parking camera and adaptive cruise control. Other extras include automatic emergency braking and blind spot warning.

While the impressive new Renault Megane RS is up against some very stiff hot hatch competition, the model has proved to be popular in the UK, even 15 years after it was first launched. The Megane RS sells around 53,000 models every year around the world.
