Volkswagen Passat also sees the firm’s App-Connect system being fitted

The Volkswagen Passat also sees the firm’s App-Connect system being fitted as standard which enables the driver to link their smartphone via a USB cable to the car.

Essentially, the phone’s screen is then ‘mirrored’ onto the Passat’s touchscreen.

This means the driver can play music on the move and also read out text messages and dictate a reply.

Other apps include Skype and Spotify; App-Connect will work with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with most smartphones having the ability to connect.

Some models in the revamped Volkswagen Passat range will feature heated front seats while SE Business models will have climate control so the driver, front seat passenger and those in the rear can set temperatures to suit themselves.

There’s also a new multifunction display which will give a range of information about the Passat’s status.

When it was launched, the Volkswagen Passat won the European Car of the Year award in 2015 and it is still a cracking value for money offering from the German carmaker with lots of other kit including Bluetooth and an 8-inch colour touchscreen and alloy wheels. The range starts at £22,025 with even the entry-level model having more equipment and offering buyers a £165 saving.
