There’s also a 1.6 litre turbodiesel unit producing 120 PS which has economy of 70 mpg and up to 81 mpg on the extra urban cycle. The engines are connected to a choice of a six speed manual box or a six speed automatic transmission.
Vauxhall has also boosted efficiency and performance with various weight saving measures which also boost the amount of space on board.
The firm says its Grandland X compact SUV is one of the most frugal available on the market today.

Equipment for the Vauxhall Grandland X includes a camera-based lane departure warning system as well as air conditioning with intelligent cruise control and road sign recognition.
The firm has also added its innovative traction control system, called IntelliGrip, as an option to the range which utilises an electronic system to boost road grip in diverse driving conditions. The system delivers the best levels of grip and also provides stable handling on a variety of surfaces.
There’s also the Vauxhall OnStar service fitted as standard so there’s better connectivity while on the move and also the offer of a personal assistance service should it be needed. The system also has an automatic crash response which many may find reassuring.
