The Ford Mondeo is to get a new luxury and sports model which will be hugely attractive to private and fleet buyers.

In addition, the Mondeo range is being simplified to consist of five models rather than the current seven – the firm is also slashing prices too.

Ford says that the Mondeo Zetec Edition will be the entry level model with prices starting at £19,445.

This entry level model comes with the option of the sporty spec of the current ST-Line as well as the firm’s new Mondeo ST-Line Edition.

Ford Mondeo to offer something extra

For those who want their Ford Mondeo to offer something a little bit extra, there’s the opportunity of the new Titanium Edition, which delivers luxury credentials, and also the excellent range-topping Vignale.

All five models in the Mondeo line-up come with satnav, autonomous braking which will help avoid low speed collisions at speeds of less than 31 mph, DAB, cruise control with speed limiter and front and rear parking sensors.

Opt for the ST-Line and the models have rear, front and side body styling, the firm’s Power start button, lower sports suspension and a darkened headliner. The ST-Line Edition comes with 19-inch metallic alloy wheels and privacy glass.

As usual with Ford, there’s a good selection of engines and those who fancy the firm’s hybrid petrol engine then the new Titanium Edition will be the choice for them, particularly with emissions of 92g/km.

This model also features premium leather heated seats that have a 10-way power adjustment facility as well.

There’s no doubt that the Mondeo with the extra features have proven popular and since its launch in 2015, the Vignale now accounts for 13% of all sales.

However, with more than 85% of all Ford Mondeos being driven as a company or lease car means they are hugely attractive and the new models will see their OTR prices being reduced – by an impressive £3,000 for the Mondeo Vignale, for instance.

The new Ford Mondeo line-up will see deliveries starting in November.
