New Kia Sportage gets a refresh.

It was only launched in February and already the excellent Kia Sportage is getting a refresh and two new models.

It’s been a popular new car with Kia selling more than 35,000 units since launch and potential buyers have the choice of a new 1.7 litre CRDI engine with a seven-speed automatic gearbox.

Other upgrades include more paint options and a new multimedia system which comes complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also 3-D mapping and map updates.

However, the Kia Sportage also has two new models in the shape of the GT Line and KX-5.

The GT Line is already a popular choice in the line-up and the specification has been improved. There’s also a better-looking GT Line S which has some exterior styling tweaks and is coupled to the 2.0 litre CRDI six speed automatic gearbox as well as a 1.6 litre T-GDi.

Among the additions are headlamp washers, heated steering wheel, smart parking assist and bi-xenon headlights.

Kia Sportage First Vehicle Leasing 2There will no longer be a ‘First Edition’ model which has now been replaced by the Kia Sportage KX-5 and it’s something of a range topper which comes complete with electronic parking brake, two tone leather upholstery, wireless phone charging and much more kit than the KX-4.

Kia also says that the new seven speed dual clutch gearbox for this model will also boost fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.

The carmaker says the improvements will boost the car’s popularity and they are hoping that the excellent sales continue into 2017.

Indeed, the Kia Sportage proved to be a popular choice when it first came out and offers excellent handling and a very comfortable driving experience over long distances with all of the engines producing plenty of power and torque when necessary. The Sportage is a highly recommended car.
