There’s a new diesel-powered Fiat 500 available and it delivers impressive levels of performance.
The new engine means that the 500 and the Panda are now the only city cars available in the UK with a turbo diesel engine. This is a boon for anybody who needs to travel long distances.
Under the bonnet, Fiat have fitted a 1.3 litre MultiJet II unit that produces 95bhp and should deliver fuel economy of 83 mpg with emissions of 89g/km; this means that drivers will not need to pay road tax.

Fuel efficiency for the diesel-powered Fiat 500 is boosted with extra technology including rapid engine warm-up, start and stop, a variable oil pump displacement and a smart alternator.
With a top speed of 112mph, the Fiat 500 will take 10.7 seconds to travel from 0 to 62 mph.
Drivers will find that the new turbodiesel Fiat 500 will be just as nippy driving around town while being comfortable to drive on motorway journeys.

The city car will also prove particularly popular with business drivers and is available in the carmaker’s Pop Star and Lounge trims.
It’s interesting too that Fiat has also made its new turbodiesel available for the 500C Pop Star which is a convertible.
The order books for the new turbodiesel powered Fiat 500 are now open with prices starting from £14,166 OTR while prices for the petrol engine versions start at £10,890 which all models coming with a decent amount of equipment and a long list of options to give all Fiat 500’s a high level of personalisation.
