The new Peugeot 208 is here

The new Peugeot 208 is heading to the UK and it’s an all-round impressive package.

The small car has always been popular and the new revisions will help take it to a new level with some nice design ideas being brought in.

Among the changes are a wider grille and a deeper chrome finish while the rear light clusters have also been redesigned and there are new wheel options too.

However, the biggest change will be a range of efficient Euro 6 engines to help boost performance and deliver incredible economy.

For instance, the BlueHDi diesel unit will have emissions of just 79g/km – though every vehicle in the range has emissions less than 95g/km.

The 1.6litre diesel will be a popular engine for the Peugeot 208

The most popular engine for the Peugeot 208 is likely to be a 1.6 litre diesel unit which will return an incredible 94mpg on the combined cycle – Peugeot says this is a record for the segment – and delivers the previously mentioned 79g/km.

The Peugeot 208 has a wide range of petrol engines too, they remain popular with customers, and there are some new PureTech three cylinder units available in either 1.0 litre or 1.2 litre guises.

Peugeot are offering their 208 with a choice of 13 colours and, this is going to be a world first technology for a production car, buyers can also opt for ‘textured paint’.

There’s also a choice of two personalisation packs – two each for the exterior and interior – which help deliver some impressive factory fit options.

In a nod to its past with the iconic GTi version of this popular small car, there are also some performance oriented versions available with three door variants.

These come with unique badging, wider tracks, lower ride and Torsen-differential to help deliver an impressive road experience.

Among the new equipment is the active city brake system which helps the driver avoid an accident and help reduce the seriousness of an incident.

There’s also park assist and a reversing camera fitted as standard on some models though it’s an option on others.

Standard equipment also includes Bluetooth connectivity and manual air conditioning.

The Peugeot 208 has prices starting from £11,695 and the most popular models are the Active and Allure which will cost £12,495 and £14,195.
