Skoda Superb prices and spec unveiled

The new Skoda Superb

The new Skoda Superb

Full pricing and specifications have been announced for the all-new Skoda Superb

The model gained a lot of favourable attention at the recent Geneva Motor Show, and it has the clean and sleek lines that will appeal to buyers who might traditionally have looked at a BMW or Mercedes model.

There are no less than seven engine options, with the extra option of DSG automatic and 4×4 transmissions on some models. Engines include four TSI petrol and three TDI diesel units with outputs from 120PS in the entry level diesel 1.6 TDI to a hefty 280PS for the new 2.0 TSI engine.

Trim levels are designated as S, SE, SE L Executive, and Laurin & Klement, with each offering higher specification and equipment than current models. Despite the hike in specification across the board, the new Superb range starts at £18,640 – £50 less than the current entry-level S model.

Slightly longer and wider than its predecessor, a longer wheelbase means more internal space, and the boot is 30 litres larger, at 625 litres, becoming 1,760 litres with the rear seat backs folded. Cleverly though, the Superb is up to 75kg lighter than its predecessor.

The new Superb is full of new technology and the brand’s famous ‘Simply Clever’ features. New features include a “Virtual pedal” system to opens the boot with a wave of a foot under the bumper, and integration of Apple and Android smartphones via CarPlay, MirrorLink and Google Android Auto. Other features include Blind spot detection, Rear traffic alert, Park assist and Traffic jam assist.

Four trim grades deliver exceptional value

All models have alloys, air con, LED rear lights, DAB radio and a touchscreen infotainment system. The ESC safety system is also fitted across the range, and as standard, has Multi-Collision brake included – which triggers automatic brake intervention on detection of a collision.

The list of standard features is truly impressive, as you can see from the details below. See also our earlier preview of the Superb. Deliveries in the UK are expected to begin in September 2015.
