Operators urged to take part in Road Safety Week

Fleet operators are being urged to take part in a major road safety initiative in November.

More than 100 major players in the UK fleet industry have already signed up to be a part of this year’s Road Safety Week, which runs from 5-11 November.

The week aims to encourage motorists to slow down and drive safely near schools and homes with the message Let Kids Live.

Now in its tenth year, National Road Safety Week is co-ordinated by the road safety charity Brake and supported by 3M, Direct Line and Green Flag.

The charity is calling on any fleet operator or service provider not already involved to order a free action pack.

The pack includes an awareness-raising poster for drivers, guidance sheet for managers on ensuring drivers don’t put vulnerable road users at risk and ideas on getting involved in the week.

Brake’s head of education, Jools Townsend, said that companies can play a key role in the event – leading the way in their community by raising awareness among their employees, customers and the wider community.

Fleet operators are urged to visit www.roadsafetyweek.org and click on the companies button to find out more.
