Volkswagen CC from First Vehicle Leasing

You don't get a second chance to make a first impression!

The VW CC - which stands for Comfort Coupe - is essentially a sleeker, more luxurious version of the VW Passat but it's so much more than that. It's not only well-designed with an excellent line-up of engines, it's also a very quiet and an extremely comfortable car to drive. The CC effectively takes on the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback with its good looks and top quality interior.

Engines and performance for the CC

There are only two spec levels, an entry-level and a top spec GT version though both are very good choices. Of the engines the choice would probably be a 2.0 litre TDI BlueMotion which should return around 61 mpg on the combined cycle while having CO2 emissions of 120g/km. Opt for the CC GT with the 2.0 litre TSI petrol unit and the car will produce a top speed of 150 mph and will reach 0 to 62 mph in 7.3 seconds. Its economy will be around 38 mpg while having CO2 emissions of 169g/km. The CC has been designed for performance and it's a very comfortable car to drive on long journeys especially with its adaptive dampers which alter the suspension setting for various levels of comfort.

The CC – comfort and luxury

The sound insulation is also excellent and there’s very little road and tyre noise can be heard and there's plenty of space on board for four adults. The middle rear seat is only really for a child. The boot measures 452 litres and will expand further with a simple one to switch to lower the back seats which will fold flat. There are also some very good design ideas on board and the interior is refined and well-made and there are plenty of cubbyholes for storage and a refrigerated glove compartment.

The handling of the car is excellent; there's a great balance to the vehicle which means it's a strong performer on winding country roads with little body roll and firm grip while out on the motorways its responsive engine makes it a good performer. VW have also added a range of safety equipment to help the driver keep control including anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control and a range of airbags. In addition there's also a collision avoidance system which will automatically brake the car to avoid a smash and a lane change system. There's also a good list of standard equipment including Bluetooth connectivity, alloy wheels, climate control and satnav. The higher spec GT comes with cruise control, adaptive dampers, full leather upholstery and parking sensors. There's no doubt that the CC is a viable alternative to some of the premium rivals and it’s a great car to drive and with its high levels of comfort which makes it a joy on long journeys.
